I’m very excited to be a part of the fine group of teachers, staff, and students at both the upper levels of the Vyšší Odborná School as well as the primary and preschool levels of the Montessori school downstairs. Engaging with children educationally and emotionally in the classroom has become a passion for me over the years, a passion which I am happy to bring to the students here. My goal is to teach my native language, English, to students through humor, music, history, art, and literature—and through other mediums which make learning a language more natural and enjoyable.
I was born in the mountain town of Bend, Oregon, in the United States. I grew up skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping, climbing mountains, cycling, mountain biking, running, and playing music. I’m still very passionate about all of these activities and try to still do most of them while living in Ostrava. I moved here in 2012, and have been teaching at the elementary and adult levels since then; before that, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Oregon. During a brief stint in Prague, I completed an intensive TEFL program with Oxford TEFL.
I enjoy living in Ostrava with my lovely newly-wedded wife, Tereza, and my wild, yet thoroughly cute and enjoyable cat, Luna.
